70/100Five days can make a second hotel tempting, but checkout, luggage, driving and waiting for a room use part of the time. Decide what Day 5 adds before dividing the stay.

A second base is easier to justify when Day 5 extends two consecutive days in another region. If the extra day is for a slow breakfast, shopping or departure logistics, moving hotels may add work without saving a transfer. Sketch splitting the stay before deciding.
First decide what kind of time Day 5 really adds
Add a second base only when it solves a route problem already visible in the plan.
If most days begin in Jeju five-day itinerary, the west or one south-side corridor, one hotel avoids a daily sleep-location decision. This helps with luggage and rental pickup/return too.
One base works best when the trip still has one dominant direction
Without a car, a hotel move adds baggage to buses or taxis. Split only when it removes a repeated transfer. Compare Jeju City with the relevant route guide before choosing the transport plan.
A second hotel can pay back when it serves several outings, such as two eastern mornings or two southern days with dinners and next-day starts in the same area. Compare Jeju without a car and whether to rent a car in Jeju if transport is still undecided.
A second base should save at least two pieces of backtracking
Write down each day’s first and last stop. If consecutive days share a region, such as south-side, a second base may remove repeated driving; it will not help if routes still cross the island.
With a car, move in the day’s direction: check out, stop along the route and reach the next hotel later. That folds the transfer into a day you already planned.

Make the transfer day travel in the same direction as the itinerary
With children or older travelers, compare the saved driving with another packing cycle, room setup and parking. A short map distance does not include those tasks.
Late arrival and early departure can each require a different base. If both ends need special handling, fewer middle nights may remain for a useful split.
Do not let the first and last night fight each other
Use Late arrival for the first night and early departure for the last night as separate decisions. A 3+1 split or one base may fit better than an even division.
For late arrival or early departure, compare where to stay after a late arrival and where to stay before an early flight as separate first- and last-night decisions. Choose a resort night only when you will use the property; otherwise prioritize room layout, parking and breakfast flow.
Choose the hotel type only after the base is settled
A resort night for its own facilities is a separate choice from moving hotels to shorten a route.
Keep the second base only when it serves at least two real travel blocks. Five days gives room to simplify the route, not a requirement to add a hotel. For a resort-led night, see whether one resort night in Jeju is worth it.
Use this final decision
- Keep one base when the added day is for arrival, departure, rest or a weather buffer, or when the opposite coast appears only once.
- Split only when the second half has at least two consecutive activities in another area and the hotel-change day follows that route.
- Do not lock it yet: car-rental dates, final flight/return timing or the east-west order is still unresolved.
Use one base when the itinerary keeps returning to one area or the final flight fixes the hotel location. Move only when two consecutive route days make the saved travel worth another checkout and check-in.
