For a first visit covering Busan’s old centre and both coasts, compare Seomyeon and Busan Station before choosing a waterfront base. Haeundae or Gwangalli makes more sense when most mornings and evenings stay on the east side.

Start with the route back to the room

Busan’s markets and old port are west; Haeundae and Gwangalli are east. Group nearby stops into one day when possible. Before comparing nightly rates, check three journeys: arrival with luggage, the return after dinner, and the trip to any stop you will visit repeatedly. A room that shortens one route may add time to the others.

What each base does well

Seomyeon works for a changing itinerary across districts and has useful connections. Busan Station reduces the luggage leg for KTX arrivals and departures, though it is not central to every sightseeing day. Haeundae suits beach time and east-coast mornings. Gwangalli places evenings by the waterfront and bridge. Nampo/Jagalchi keeps markets and old-port streets close, but makes east-coast days longer.

Compare rooms on the same terms

After choosing an area, compare the exact room and rate for the same dates, guests and bed setup. Include taxes, breakfast, payment timing and cancellation deadlines. For families or groups, confirm the named room accepts everyone; a hotel’s general facilities do not prove every room has the same layout.

Use time as part of the price

Check the walk from the actual hotel entrance to the station, including exits, stairs and crossings. Add the late-evening return and the airport or KTX transfer. The nearest map pin can still mean a longer journey when the route crosses the city.

Choose the base that serves most nights

If the itinerary has one fixed event or a beach-focused finish, a district stay may reduce repeated travel. A split stay only helps when moving hotels costs less time than the journeys it removes. Compare your current route with a three-day Busan plan, a five-day plan and the Arban Hotel review.
