75/100Five nights can support one base or a split stay. The deciding factor is whether the second hotel serves multiple days, or just adds a move to reach one meal or attraction.

Before splitting, assign the fifth night: an extra sightseeing day, a departure buffer or time to rest and repack. Move only if the second address will remove repeated travel on the days that follow.
Decide what the fifth night is for
Four nights leave little spare time for checkout and another check-in. A fifth can support two meaningful blocks—such as west-side evenings first and central Seoul later. Compare those neighborhoods with Hongdae vs Myeongdong before choosing the split.
If the fifth night is also the departure night, solve the luggage and transport plan first. The Myeongdong vs Seoul Station for the last night may show that keeping the current base is easier.
Move from Hongdae when central Seoul will repeat
Hongdae can suit a late arrival and western Seoul evenings. A move to Myeongdong is worthwhile when the next days repeatedly use central Seoul for activities, shopping or a hotel return. If arrival is the only reason for Hongdae, check the late-arrival first-night guide before booking all five nights there.
Plan the transfer along the day’s route: check out, confirm bag storage, use a nearby or same-direction activity, then check in. The luggage-before-check-in guide explains the storage and timing gap to settle.
Finish in Hongdae only when the west-side plan continues
A Myeongdong-to-Hongdae split can work when central plans come first and west-side evenings continue for at least two nights. Verify the departure route before putting Hongdae last.
A concert or reservation should influence the nights it actually affects, not automatically determine five hotel nights. Add confirmed dates to the 5-day Seoul itinerary and compare the surrounding days.
One hotel keeps the schedule flexible
One base removes a checkout, bag transfer and the period before the next room is ready. It also leaves the group free to change plans for weather, shopping or fatigue.
Moving with a family or three adults multiplies packing and room coordination. Compare the triple room vs two rooms for three adults and one-hotel versus two-base test before treating a second base as an easy upgrade.
Use the fifth night as a buffer when needed
The extra night can remain open for a slower day, delayed plans or final packing. If the trip needs that buffer, keep the same room.
Split only when the final area has a useful role across at least two blocks and the fifth night is not needed as a buffer.
Keep the move day flexible
Avoid placing a timed attraction on transfer day. Keep bags and check-in gaps explicit, then choose a flexible activity near the destination base.
Choose a second district for its actual job
A departure night may need Seoul Station, Yongsan or airport access instead of either Hongdae or Myeongdong. Compare Seoul Station, Gongdeok and Hongdae and use the Seoul hotel guide to shortlist exact properties.
Write both versions before paying
- One hotel: use the fifth night for flexibility, weather or departure preparation.
- Hongdae → Myeongdong: first cover west-side arrival and evenings, then spend several blocks in central Seoul.
- Myeongdong → Hongdae: finish on the west side only when those evenings and the departure route fit.
- Wait: flight, luggage, confirmed event or room requirements are not settled.
A split is worthwhile when the second base serves the next days and its benefit exceeds the packing, transfer and check-in time.

KriNavi decision card
Best use: test whether five nights give the second Seoul base enough work to justify moving.
Keep one hotel for flexibility and a simpler luggage plan. Split only when the area change supports multiple remaining plans.
