With a stroller in Seoul, choose the route you can repeat without lifting the stroller

“Three minutes from the subway” tells you distance. It does not tell you whether those three minutes include stairs, an elevator detour, a long underground passage or two major crossings.

With a stroller, compare the full hotel-door-to-platform route, not just the distance to a station. A nearby stop can still require a lift detour, long corridor, crowded transfer or steep final block.

Trace the route you will use every day

Break it into hotel entrance, pavement, station entrance, fare gates, platform and train exit. Use the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s station accessibility list to check elevators and accessible facilities, then confirm the actual exit you need. A station’s elevator does not prove the nearest exit to your hotel is step-free.

Let the itinerary choose the district

Myeongdong or Euljiro can suit central sightseeing and a midday room return. City Hall or Seoul Station can help when AREX, KTX or departure luggage sets the route, though station corridors add walking. Hongdae works for west-Seoul plans and airport rail only when the hotel-side elevator exit is usable. Jamsil makes sense when Lotte World, Seokchon Lake and nearby meals fill several days; Dongdaemun is stronger when DDP and the eastern centre repeat.

Keep the hotel candidates tied to the route: Lotte Hotel Seoul or Nine Tree Premier Myeongdong 2 for central returns; Four Points Seoul Station for transport days; Novotel Ambassador Seoul Dongdaemun when the eastern route repeats.

Inspect the last few hundred metres

Seoul’s S-Map street view can reveal stairs, narrow alleys and the pavement around a candidate hotel. Compare the shortest map route with the hotel’s actual entrance, lift, crossing and curb cuts. In rain, an exposed 500 metres with a stroller, child and bags may outweigh a shorter metro ride.

Choose a base that does not depend on lifting

Test the hotel route with the stroller folded only if you expect to fold it. Check room access, luggage space, family sleep needs and whether a daily nap requires a return. A taxi is a useful backup; if every ordinary return needs one to avoid stairs, recheck the base. For room naps and feeding, continue to the Seoul baby-and-toddler hotel guide or the family midday-rest base.
