Choose the room by the evening you want. If Handam cafes, the coastal walk, sunset and dinner should all fit without another drive, look for an actually walkable Handam/Aewol-ri location. Otherwise compare a west-coast driving base with Jeju City or Iho. For one Aewol afternoon, moving luggage may add more work than it removes: see your island-wide cafe plan, Iho, Aewol and Andeok stay trade-offs and Jeju City.
“Aewol” covers several different overnight locations: the Handam cafe area, coastal resorts that still require a drive to the cafes, and a wider west-Jeju base. Check the property’s exact location and how you will return after the final stop.
Aewol address does not guarantee a walkable Handam evening
Visit Jeju describes the Handam Coastal Trail as about 1.2 km, connecting the Aewol-ri side toward Gwakji Gwamul Beach. Its walking and sunset context explains why some visitors want to stay nearby; the district name alone does not establish that a hotel is within walking distance.
Stanford Hotel & Resort Jeju and Dyne Oceano Hotel Jeju sit on other parts of Aewolhaean-ro. Both can suit a resort stay, but this page does not treat them as walkable to Handam cafe street. Compare their room and facilities on Stanford Hotel & Resort Jeju: review floor access and view pricing. and Dyne Oceano Hotel Jeju: check family pool hours and facilities..
Haejigae’s listed last order extends the evening
A Visit Jeju listing checked on 2026-08-20 placed Haejigae by Handam Beach at 52 Aewolbukseo-gil and showed daily hours of 09:00–21:00, with a 20:20 last order. Treat these as a dated listing snapshot, not a guaranteed schedule.
For this cafe, map the whole return: walking the coast, waiting for sunset, dinner, getting back to the car and parking at the hotel. The final stop can keep you on the west coast later than expected; compare that return with the west-Jeju sunset and night-driving stay decision.
Aewol The Sunset has an earlier listed closing time
The Visit Jeju listing checked on 2026-08-20 placed Aewol The Sunset on the Gwakji side and showed 10:00–19:00 daily, with an 18:20 last order. It closes earlier than Haejigae in that snapshot. Match the cafe’s current hours to the season’s sunset time.
Cafe hours, last orders and days off change. Recheck the business or Visit Jeju for your date, especially before paying for a non-refundable room.

With a car, decide where you want to stop driving
A rental car lets you connect west-coast stops, but after several cafes, parking and another drive may be the tiring part. A Handam stay helps only if you can park and walk; a resort farther along the coast is a different product.
If you want a pool, spa bath or larger suite, choose the resort for those facilities and plan the drive to Handam separately. If you want to stop driving after sunset, verify the walking route from the exact lodging. For the car decision, see whether you need a rental car in Jeju.
Route 102 serves the west-coast corridor, not every door
The Jeju Bus Information System schedule version effective 2026-07-15 showed Route 102 running from Jeju Bus Terminal via the airport, Aewol and Hallim toward Moseulpo/Unjin Port. It listed westbound intervals of about 25–55 minutes; routes and timings may change.
Route 102 is a corridor, not door-to-door service. Map the stop, hotel, last cafe and dinner, then check the current timetable and walking distance. The Jeju without a car guide covers the one-direction-per-day approach.
For one Aewol afternoon, compare Iho and Jeju City
For one Aewol afternoon followed by an airport, east or south departure, a hotel move adds checkout, luggage transfer, check-in and another morning departure. Compare that work with the single return trip you would save.
Shilla Stay Plus Iho Tewoo can preserve a coastal stay near Jeju City and the airport; use it if its facilities matter to your plans. For restaurants, an early flight or no-car flexibility, compare Shilla Stay Plus Iho Tewoo.Jeju City base decision
Two west-coast days can justify moving the base
A second west-coast day changes the calculation: staying west may avoid repeated evening returns. Decide first whether you want a walkable Handam base or a hotel whose room and facilities are the reason for staying there.
Stanford and Dyne Oceano can work as west-Jeju resort bases, but neither should be selected solely because “Aewol” appears in its address. Check room, view, facilities, occupancy, breakfast and cancellation details on the individual property pages.
Rain changes the value of a coastal walk
Rain can make indoor cafes appealing while reducing the value of the Handam walk. Choose one or two places where you can stay longer, and confirm parking and seating rather than trying to fit in more stops.
If weather removes the sunset and coast walk, use the Jeju rainy-day plan to choose an indoor plan on the same side of the island. For a longer stay, compare the five-day one-base vs split-stay decision before changing hotels.
Check the location and return plan before booking “Aewol”
- Is the property walkable to the Handam stop you plan to use, or does “Aewol” only describe the district?
- Where will the final cafe be, and what happens after sunset?
- Will you walk back, drive, or use a bus or taxi for dinner and the hotel return?
- If driving, can you park once for the evening at the exact lodging?
- If Handam still requires a drive, are you choosing the hotel for its resort facilities instead?
- Does the next morning begin in west Jeju, or would a hotel move add a second transfer?
- For Route 102, have you checked the current timetable, stop and last-kilometre walk?
- Have you rechecked cafe hours and closure days for the actual date?
- Are the room and facilities worth the stay on their own, regardless of the “Aewol” label?
Base choice: for two full west-coast days, compare an actual Handam walking location with a resort chosen for its own facilities. For one afternoon, keep Jeju City or Iho if the next day points elsewhere.
