For five days alone, decide which city’s evening routes you want to repeat before choosing a hotel base.

Five Solo Days in Korea: Seoul or Busan?

You do not need to fill every hour. A city that is easy to come back to at night is already doing useful work.

Five days can hold a relaxed one-city trip or a rushed transfer between cities. Start with the nights you arrive and leave, then compare the return route you will repeat after dinner.

Choose Seoul if flexible evenings matter most

One Seoul base makes it easier to switch neighbourhoods, shorten a rainy afternoon or return early without packing again. Pick accommodation around the places you expect to end the day, not a city-wide “central” label. The Seoul stay guide compares areas by route.

Choose Busan when coast and dinner belong on the same day

Busan works well when a coastal walk and the evening meal fit one side of the city. Decide whether the west, centre or east is your base; crossing districts after a long day adds time even when travelling alone makes the schedule flexible. The Busan hotel-area guide can help match the base to that plan.

Keep one base unless the second city has enough time

A hotel change takes more than the train ride: checkout, luggage storage, station access and the next check-in all use part of the day. Add Busan only if the remaining full days still cover the districts you came to see. For the broader three-city decision, compare Seoul, Busan and Jeju for a first solo trip.

Test the first and last night separately

Check where your flight lands, what time you can reach the hotel, and how you will get to the airport or station on departure day. A good middle-of-trip base can still be awkward for a late arrival or early flight. Leave one afternoon unbooked so weather or tiredness does not force a long cross-city journey.
