Treat Odongdo as the daylight walk and the cable car as a separate evening choice. The island train runs on a seasonal timetable, while the cable car operates later but may change service for weather or maintenance. Finish the island first; decide on the ride after checking the time, wind and the group’s energy.
Keep the island visit inside its train window
Odongdo’s breakwater is 768 metres long and takes about 15 minutes on foot from the entrance. The Dongbaek Train is a paid alternative on a 1.2-kilometre route; the city’s timetable includes a lunch break and shorter winter service. If you plan to ride back, check the current final departure before walking deeper into the island. See the Odongdo walking and train details.
Keep food and a recovery stop between the island and the cable-car station. Add the cable car only if the return, boarding queue and the next transport still fit. It is fine to end with the island and a harbour meal instead of making a night ride a deadline.
Choose the evening by the operating date
The cable-car operator lists daily hours of 09:30–21:30, subject to weather and maintenance. Check its live notice before setting a sunset connection. Adult one-way and return fares differ by cabin, so use the fare and boarding guide before buying a one-way ticket.
For the cable-car crossing, check the operator’s service notice on the day; wind or maintenance can change operation. If the ride is unavailable or its queue cuts into the return, keep the evening at the harbour rather than adding another cross-town stop.
Set one latest return and keep a lit harbour walk as the backup if wind, rain or a queue changes the plan.
