Plan Taehwagang National Garden around one garden zone

Taehwagang National Garden is a free, open riverside park in central Ulsan. Pick one area as the day’s focus—Simni Bamboo Grove, the river edge or a shorter family route—because the grounds cover a wide area and different entrances serve different sections.

Use the entrance that matches your first stop

The garden covers about 835,452 m² and is open at all hours without an admission fee. For the visitor information centre, use 154 Taehwagang National Garden-gil, Jung-gu. The south-bank access and Samho district have separate entrances; check the map pin before setting a taxi destination. The official garden FAQ lists the information centre as open 09:00–18:00. The nearby Milky Way Path is listed from sunset to 23:00, so it has a different schedule from the grounds.

Ulsan’s garden visitor information lists the entrances, accessibility details and operating hours.

Choose one walk

  • Simni Bamboo Grove: choose the shaded bamboo paths when that landscape is the main reason for the visit. The grove extends for about 4 km; a short out-and-back is easier to fit than trying to cover the full garden.
  • River edge: follow one confirmed section beside the Taehwa River if you want open views and space. Bring water and sun cover in warm weather; shade is less continuous than inside the grove.
  • Shorter accessible visit: the city says wheelchair and stroller access is provided across the garden, but some unpaved sections may be difficult or restricted after rain. Check the route surface, crossings and rest points for the specific loop.

Wheelchairs and strollers can be borrowed at an on-site information desk; the city lists a 10:00–16:50 return window and asks visitors to bring identification. Confirm desk availability before travelling if the loan is essential.

Seasonal displays and evening lights

Flower beds, events and lighting can change by date. Use Ulsan’s current notices before travelling. The garden itself remains accessible around the clock, but the information centre and illuminated path have their own schedules. Avoid planning around a particular bloom or event without a current notice.

Before you set out

Save the address for your chosen entrance, check the weather and any path notices, and decide where the group will turn back. The whole garden is not a single short circuit; keep the visit to one area if you also have another Ulsan stop that day.
