Tongyeong in two days: harbor lanes first, Mireuksan next

Day 1: Dongpirang, the market and Gangguan Port

Begin at Dongpirang Village, a hillside neighborhood known for its mural lanes and views over the harbor. Expect slopes and stairs rather than a flat promenade; wear shoes you can walk uphill in, and keep residential doorways clear. The adjacent Tongyeong Jungang Market is a practical next stop for seafood and local products. The market faces Gangguan Port, where the harbor and turtle-ship displays give you a low-effort place to pause after the climb.

Market opening and closing times vary by shop, so leave food shopping flexible instead of planning around one fixed hour. The official tourism listing gives the market address as 14–16 Jungangsijang 1-gil. If you arrive late, use the harbor walk as the fallback and save the market meal for another opening window.

For the evening, choose a harbor-side dinner or return to your lodging before adding more uphill walking. DPIRANG is a separate illuminated night park at Nammangsan Park; it is not Dongpirang Village. Check its seasonal hours, ticketing and Wednesday closure on the official notice if you want to add it.

Day 2: cable car to Mireuksan

Go to Tongyeong Cable Car at 205 Balgae-ro. The ride takes about nine minutes each way; the upper station is on Mireuksan, with a further uphill walk if you want to continue toward the summit. Build time for the return queue and the walk instead of treating the ride as the entire visit.

VisitKorea currently lists round-trip fares of ₩17,000 for adults, ₩13,000 for children and ₩14,000 for seniors; one-way fares are ₩13,500, ₩11,000 and ₩11,500 respectively. Its general hours are 10:00–18:00 on weekdays and 09:00–18:00 on weekends, with ticketing ending 50 minutes before closing. Weather can change operation and the operator posts date-specific hours and closures. Confirm the live notice at the official Tongyeong Cable Car site before setting out.

If cloud or wind obscures the view, switch the order: use the harbor and market on the clear day, and keep the hillside visit for later. Do not buy a one-way ticket without checking the return plan and operating status.

Getting between the two areas

Dongpirang and Jungang Market are in the central harbor area; the cable-car station is at Donam-dong, south of the center. Use a live map or local transport information to choose a bus or taxi for your date. Fixed bus intervals and journey times are not included here because they change with service and traffic. If you have luggage, settle it at your lodging before heading to the mountain.
