Suwon Hwaseong wall sections: choose a start point and finish

UNESCO lists the wall at 5.74 km. Use the official meeting points and course endpoints below to choose one section instead of planning the entire circuit by guesswork.

The official guided-tour page gives a practical way to divide the wall: each meeting point is paired with a section and endpoint. These are route options, not a promise that every walk has the same length or effort; check the official map before choosing where to start.

Match the meeting point to the section

  • Seojangdae: Seonamgangnu or Hwaseomun.
  • Hwaseomun: Janganmun or Hwahongmun.
  • Janganmun: Hwaseomun or Yeonmudae.
  • Hwahongmun: Janganmun or Yeonmudae.
  • Yeonmudae: Janganmun or Bongdon.
  • Paldalmun: Seojangdae.

The foundation lists the meeting-point addresses on its English page: Seojangdae at 108 Paldalsan-ro, Hwaseomun at 19 Hwaseomun-ro, Janganmun at 1-1 Jangan-dong, Yeonmudae at 8 Changnyoung-daero 103beon-gil, Hwahongmun at 377 Suwoncheon-ro and Paldalmun at 16 Jeongjo-ro 777beon-gil. UNESCO notes that roads cross the wall at nine points to serve city traffic. Check the map for your chosen endpoint and crossings before setting out.

If you want a cultural-tour guide

The published English service lists 10:00, 11:00, 13:30, 14:30 and 15:30. In July and August, guides may not be offered at 13:30 or 14:30. The stated minimum is four people for individual visitors; groups of 20 or more are directed to contact the Suwon Cultural Foundation. Confirm the live schedule and reservation conditions before travelling.

For an evening walk, use the same endpoint logic but keep the section short enough for your group’s return plan. The wall is listed as open day and night; this does not mean that each section has identical access or conditions. The separate 2026 night-opening dates and palace entry cutoff are in the day-to-evening planning guide.
