Seoul to Daegu: choose your arrival point before KTX or bus

If arrival time, large luggage or the next day's train matters, start with where you need to end up in Daegu. Only then compare the transport itself.

Choose a Seoul–Daegu ticket by its arrival point and the route that follows. A fast train can still leave a long city transfer; a bus can work well when the arrival and first evening are flexible.

For KTX, include the trip from Dongdaegu

KTX arrives at Dongdaegu Station. If the hotel is downtown, add the metro, taxi or other local leg rather than treating the train platform as the end of the journey. A hotel near the station simplifies a late arrival or an early onward departure; use where to stay in Daegu and the hotel guide to compare the base.

A bus suits a flexible arrival plan

Compare the bus terminal with the actual accommodation and dinner location. If you have a fixed check-in, reservation or short evening, the final transfer and possible delay matter more. With large cases or a group, plan where bags will go before dinner and choose a meeting point if people arrive separately.

An early departure may preserve more of the Daegu day but requires a manageable start in Seoul. A late departure can preserve the Seoul morning and leave Daegu mainly for an overnight. If only one full day is available, check it against the Daegu one-day itinerary; with two days, see the two-day plan.

Compare the whole route, not just the fare

Add the Seoul hotel-to-station leg, station walking time, the intercity ride and the Daegu arrival-to-hotel transfer. Then compare current prices and cancellation or change rules. A lower fare can mean another transfer or taxi; a faster train is useful only if the saved time helps the day you have planned.

Keep the first activity easy to move: hotel, food nearby and a short walk are safer after a late arrival than a fixed reservation across town. Check live departure and arrival details through KORAIL’s official ticket site for rail; recheck the selected bus operator’s current terminal and timetable before purchase.
