Hongdae, Myeongdong and Seoul Station can all work with older travellers. Choose by the hardest repeated part of the day: airport arrival, a walk back after dinner, a midday rest or the final transfer with luggage.
Match the area to the tiring segment
Hongdae fits when the airport route and western-side evenings line up. Myeongdong can suit central sightseeing and a possible midday return. Seoul Station is useful when the last night has a transport job, such as an early KTX or a suitcase-heavy departure. None of the three areas guarantees a short, flat walk from the actual hotel entrance.
Check the exact station exit, stairs, slope, crossings and distance from the last stop to the property. Myeongdong does not guarantee a larger room or easier access; verify the room type, bathroom, bed setup and lift in the specific hotel. A hotel near the district centre can still leave a difficult final block.
Plan around the person who needs the break
If someone often returns after lunch, place that pause near the day’s main area rather than treating it as a failed itinerary. For groups that can stay out all day, prioritize the evening route and the walk back. The arrival base and departure base may differ: a familiar first-night route does not automatically make the final luggage trip easy.
Before changing hotels for the last night, compare the saved transfer with the cost of one more checkout and check-in. A separate final night makes sense when it removes a real luggage or departure problem.
Use the Seoul area guide to match mornings and evenings, then check the exact property’s entrance, lift, room and transit approach. Choose the hotel around the route the group will actually repeat.
