Gunsan’s port district works best as a compact walk with one indoor anchor. The Modern History Museum stands at 240 Haemang-ro; nearby sites include the former customs office, Modern Art Museum, Modern Architecture Hall and Jinpo Marine Theme Park.
Begin indoors when you need context
The museum’s current visitor notice lists March–October hours as 09:00–18:00 and November–February as 09:00–17:00, with entry ending 30 minutes before closing. It closes Mondays, January 1 and other mayor-designated holidays. Check the museum’s visitor information before setting a timed route.
From the museum, choose the buildings that answer one question about the port: how trade was administered, where money moved or how the old commercial streets were reused. The city’s Time Travel Village outline identifies the nearby route stops and their history.
Keep the walk in one cluster
A museum visit followed by two or three nearby buildings is a more manageable plan than crossing town for every saved pin. Check which interiors are open; an exterior view does not mean a building accepts visitors. Leave time for road crossings, reading and a rest before moving on.
Make the harbour a separate final leg
Jinpo Marine Theme Park and the old waterfront add a different view of the port. Use signed public paths and confirm current access before heading out. If weather, daylight or transport makes the edge difficult, finish near the historic buildings instead.
Use the museum’s destination listing for its address, seasonal hours and last-entry details.
