Anmok Beach and the sea-facing café area
Anmok makes a relaxed first or final evening when the route already ends by the coast.
Gyeongpo Beach on Gangneung’s East Sea coast
Choose one coast for the second day, then plan the return to the station.

An overnight in Gangneung makes sense when it adds a usable arrival evening and a full local day in one direction. If the plan is one brief attraction and a beach walk, compare the day-trip option before paying for a room.

Does the arrival evening add real time?

Allow for the station-to-room trip, bags and dinner before deciding that an overnight creates a useful evening. Stay downtown near Jungang Market or in a coast area such as Gyeongpo or Anmok; crossing town for one extra viewpoint can use the time the night was meant to add.

Keep the full day in one direction and protect the return

Use the morning for one coast, heritage or coffee area, then leave time to reach the station for your booked train. Check the travel-date timetable with KORAIL’s travel-date timetable. Local bus service and journey time depend on which stops you choose, so confirm those connections before adding another district.

If you want an evening and the next morning by the coast, compare Gyeongpo or Anmok as a base. A station-side stay may fit better when an early train or luggage makes the return harder; compare Compare Gangneung base areas. If that evening and full day do not fit your plan, use the Gangneung one-day plan instead.
