Choose a Gangneung base around the places you will use before check-in and after dinner. The station, downtown market, Gyeongpo and Anmok each solve a different part of the trip.

Station and downtown

Gangneung Station is at 176 Yongji-ro. A station-side room is useful with luggage, a late train arrival or an early departure. Downtown around Jungang Market and Wolhwa Street makes more sense when dinner and shops matter more than waking beside the sea. See the KTO station location.

Gyeongpo and Anmok

Gyeongpo Beach is listed six kilometres from downtown, between Gyeongpoho Lake and the East Sea. Stay nearby if the beach, lake and nearby cultural sites are the main part of the visit. Anmok is the better match when café time and a short seaside walk are central; the Coffee Street is at 20-1 Changhae-ro 14beon-gil, and individual café hours vary.
