Daegu National Museum: plan the visit around its actual access

The most reliable plan is not a map covered in pins. Give the morning one theme, the afternoon one nearby direction, and reserve enough room for dinner and the journey back.

Daegu National Museum is in Suseong-gu, away from the downtown alley route. It works best as a planned cultural stop: check the exhibition calendar, allow for the transfer and keep the return journey in view.

Check the entry window before choosing a day

The museum lists general visiting hours as 09:00-18:00, with the last entry 30 minutes before closing. It is closed every Monday, New Year's Day, Seollal and Chuseok; when a Monday is a public holiday, the first following non-holiday weekday is the closure day. General admission is free, but visitors still collect an entry ticket at the desk. Some special exhibitions may charge admission, and groups of 20 or more need advance reservations.

Choose a collection rather than trying to cover every room

The permanent galleries cover ancient and medieval culture and textiles and clothing from Daegu and Gyeongsangbuk-do. The museum also has temporary exhibitions and a Children's Museum. Check the current exhibition and reservation pages for the date you plan to visit; temporary titles, ticket conditions and programmes change.

Allow time for the last leg

The address is 321 Cheongho-ro, Suseong-gu. From Manchon Station on Subway Line 2, use Exit 3 and transfer to a city bus serving the museum. Free parking is available, but the museum says spaces are limited and recommends public transport. Check the live bus route before departure.

For a downtown route, compare the Modern Culture Alley Course 2 before adding a second museum-area transfer.
