The shorter published Modern Cultural Alley route covers about 1.32 kilometres. It starts at Dongsan Cheongna Hill and includes the 90 steps on March 1st Independence Movement Road, so plan for an uphill section rather than treating the route as a flat stroll.
Follow the listed stops in order
- Dongsan Cheongna Hill: begin at the western edge of the historic district.
- March 1st Independence Movement Road: climb the 90 stairs associated with Daegu's independence-era movement.
- Daegu Gyesan Cathedral: pause at the Catholic landmark before continuing into the old residential streets.
- House of Yi Sang-hwa: add the poet's former home if access is open.
- Gyonam YMCA: see a site linked with the local independence movement.
- Daegu Jeil Church: finish the listed sequence in the downtown area.
Keep the walk flexible at the buildings
The route connects public streets with historic properties. An outdoor route listing does not guarantee entry to every interior; check each site's current opening and access before making it the day's main stop. If the stairs, rain or heat change the plan, visit fewer sites and return by the nearest practical street.
