Geumjeongsan is too broad for an improvised “loop” between several gates and districts. Choose a short South Gate walk from Geumgang Park, or use the city’s common East Gate–North Gate–Beomeosa route and arrange the return from the temple side.
South Gate from Geumgang Park
Busan City places Geumgang Park about a 15-minute walk from Oncheonjang Station on Line 1. The cable car reaches the ridge near the fortress South Gate; its hours can change by season, weekday and weather, so check the current Visit Busan cable-car information before using it as the return plan. Walk a chosen section and return by the same access if you do not have a separate exit arranged.
East Gate to North Gate and Beomeosa
Busan Geopark calls East Gate–North Gate–Beomeosa the common course and notes that buses run partway to East Gate. This is a point-to-point route, so check the approach and the Beomeosa-side return before starting. The fortress wall spans 18.8 km; choose one section rather than trying to cover it all.
See Busan Geopark’s Geumjeongsan guide for the route and access options.
Make autumn the reason for one section
The city identifies late-autumn foliage around Geumgangam as one of the mountain’s seasonal sights. Choose the approach that gives your group time for that section and a planned descent; do not add the full fortress circuit to a city evening.
Adjust for ground and daylight
Start early enough for the descent you chose. After rain or when stone is wet, reduce the route and skip exposed ridge extensions. For a mixed-pace group, agree on a meeting point and return time before separating; keep dinner or a coastal stop optional.
