Daecheon and Muchangpo are different stops. Daecheon is the long beach and Mud Festival area; the exposed sea road associated with a tidal walk is at Muchangpo, where access depends on the tide.
Daecheon Beach and the Mud Museum
Daecheon Beach runs about 3.5 km along Boryeong’s West Sea coast. A simple visit can be a beach walk, sunset and a meal near the Mud Plaza. The official beach listing gives the address as 123 Meodeu-ro and notes parking, the Sky Bike and zip trek in the beach area.
The Boryeong Mud Museum is nearby at 897-15 Daehae-ro. The current tourism listing gives 09:00–18:00 and free admission; it lists Mondays and public holidays as closure days except during the beach opening period. Mud shower and massage services operate only during the beach swimming period. The listed shower price is KRW 4,000; massage prices vary by service. Check the Mud Museum details before planning around a service.
For a tide-exposed path, go to Muchangpo
Read the Muchangpo Beach information and the Korea Hydrographic and Oceanographic Agency sea-parting forecast for your travel date; do not assume the path is exposed at a convenient hour.
Make the festival a date-specific choice
The 2026 Boryeong Mud Festival ran from 24 July to 9 August at Boryeong Mud Expo Plaza and has ended. The official festival page lists the event period and paid entry. Check the organizer’s announcement for the next edition rather than carrying over 2026 dates.
Which route fits the day?
- Beach day: stay around Daecheon, then add the museum only if its seasonal services are operating.
- Tide-window visit: make Muchangpo the anchor and plan arrival and departure around the published exposure time.
- Festival trip: choose the announced dates first, then expect event-zone crowds and traffic.
Daecheon and Muchangpo are separate locations. If combining them, check the transfer and return before adding the second coast stop; local buses and taxis may not match the tide window.
Route choice
Daecheon is the beach and Mud Museum stop. For the tide-exposed sea road, check Muchangpo’s date-specific tide window and plan that location separately.
