Andong: Hahoe Village or Old Market? Choose the Right Day

Choose Hahoe when the village landscape is the reason for the day. Choose Andong Old Market when you want local food and a route that can stay near the city centre. A short combination works only if the Hahoe return fits. Current Hahoe hours and entry fees

Pick the visit that matches your time

  • Hahoe-led: allow a daylight block for the settlement. From October to March it closes at 17:00, with last entry at 16:30; adult admission is KRW 5,000, teenagers KRW 2,500 and children KRW 1,500.
  • Old-town-led: Andong Old Market Union is at 55 Beonyeong 1-gil and lists 09:00–22:00 opening. Individual shops set their own closing days, so check the place you plan to visit.
  • Both: go to Hahoe first, then return to the city for a meal only if the day’s bus and last-entry times leave room.

The transfer decides whether the combination works

Andong’s tourist page currently lists city bus 210 for Hahoe. The city bus system provides the live route; check your actual boarding stop and return before leaving the centre. Hahoe and the market are separate locations, so do not use a fixed meal reservation that assumes a particular return time. See Andong’s tourist routes Open the live bus system

The market is at 55 Beonyeong 1-gil. VisitKorea lists 09:00–22:00 and notes that individual shop closing varies; it also places the market about 20 minutes by bus from Andong Station or the intercity terminal. Market address and hours

Use the village walk as the anchor

Hahoe is not a quick stop between downtown meals: the paths, houses and river setting reward a slower visit. If the group needs a shorter indoor day, keep to the market and nearby city streets instead of adding a rural transfer. Byeongsanseowon is another separate heritage stop, not a free extension to this choice.
