A Hyangiram day is shaped by the rural bus timetable and the steep walk from Impo, not just the distance on a map. Set the outward and return journeys first, then decide how long to spend at the hermitage and whether a second Dolsan stop fits.
Choose a bus by departure point
Yeosu City lists buses 111, 111-1 and 116 for Impo, the Hyangiram stop. Route 111 has two early departures from Yeosu Expo Station and eight daily departures from the intercity bus terminal; 111-1 has three early Expo departures and twelve daily terminal departures; route 116 runs three times daily from the terminal. These are service counts, not a promise that a departure will line up with sunrise. Check the city’s current Hyangiram bus table for the date and departure point.
From Impo, continue uphill to the hermitage. The current VisitKorea listing shows hours as sunrise to sunset and free admission, but check current notices before setting out. Leave enough time for the climb, temple grounds and return to the stop; do not plan the last bus by estimating the downhill walk.
Make the return part of the itinerary
Bus frequencies are limited compared with central Yeosu, so note the return departure before leaving town. If the timetable does not fit your visit, arrange a taxi or driver and confirm the pickup location and price. A private ride can also help when weather or mobility makes the stairs harder, but it does not remove the climb.
After Hyangiram, add one nearby coast or harbour stop only if the return reaches Yeosu with time to spare. In rain, fog or strong wind, choose a daylight window or cancel the ascent. The visitor listing covers the site; the city bus page is the operational source for the route.
For a base, compare Dolsan with central Yeosu by the first bus or pickup and the evening return. Compare Yeosu stays.
Where to stay for this route
City base near the transport line
Keep the overnight in Yeosu city when the temple visit needs to connect with dinner, luggage pickup or an early departure next morning. That avoids adding another cross-town hotel transfer after the walk.

Stay near the destination
A nearby room is useful if you need to reach Hyangiram early, stay for sunset or return the next day. Check the exact lodging-to-entrance transfer and where dinner is available before booking.
Choose the room after the route
Plan the night around the last leg back from Hyangiram and the first trip the next day; confirm both journeys from the address, not just the hotel name.
