Choose an Ulleungdo base from the ferry port outward

On Ulleungdo, a sea-view label does not tell you how far your bags, meals or next-day route are from the ferry. Confirm the arrival and departure ports first, then choose a base that reduces the transfer you will actually make.

Start with your booked arrival port

Ulleungdo’s ferry services can arrive at Dodong, Jeodong or Sadong, depending on the operator and sailing. These are separate places; do not assume a room listed simply as “Ulleungdo” is beside your terminal. Keep the ferry confirmation open when comparing the address, luggage drop-off and check-in plan.

For a short visit or a return sailing that needs a larger margin, a base near the confirmed port keeps the first or final land transfer simpler. A coast-side base makes more sense when you have extra nights and a particular stretch of the island is your priority. Ask the accommodation about pickup, parking and the nearest bus stop before choosing a distant view over a workable arrival.

Make one coast section the day’s anchor

Ulleungdo is a steep volcanic island with cliffs and trails linking the coast to higher ground. Give one coast section enough daylight rather than trying to circle the island between ferry and hotel changes. The exact route depends on road access and current transport; verify the return departure before walking or taking a bus outward.

The ferry operator’s tourism page lists local tour-bus, taxi and rental-car contacts. Use those current contacts to confirm pickup, return and luggage arrangements. It does not replace the individual ferry schedule or guarantee that a vehicle is available at the time you need it.

Keep the return booking visible

Mainland sailings, ports and fares vary by operator, date and seat. Check the live booking page for both directions and leave a margin for the trip from your base to the right terminal. Weather and sea conditions can change operations; keep the ferry company’s notice and contact details accessible, and ask the accommodation how it handles a delayed arrival.
