Uiseong Garlic and the Joryeong Pass: Plan Them as Separate Stops

Uiseong and Joryeong are separate destinations. Uiseong-gun’s official English site highlights Jin Garlic, harvested from mid-June onward; Joryeong’s old pass and three historic gates are at Mungyeongsaejae in Mungyeong. Build the day around one location unless you have a confirmed transfer and enough time.

What the local product source confirms

The county’s tourism site lists Uiseong Jin Garlic as a local specialty and points to local markets and products. It does not identify ginseng as Uiseong’s signature product. The page gives mid-June onward as the harvest period; ask the seller about the current crop, origin, form and price before travelling to buy a specific item.

The county tourism portal also publishes east-side, west-side and overnight itinerary categories. Use those official route groupings to choose an Uiseong day, then check the current map and transport for the named stops.

Walk the historic pass at Mungyeongsaejae

Mungyeongsaejae has three gates: Juheulgwan, Jogokgwan and Joryeonggwan. VISITKOREA describes the path from the first gate to the last as roughly a four-hour round trip and lists the provincial park as open around the clock with free park entry. The open filming set inside the park is a separate paid attraction with its own hours.

Mungyeong City’s route description places Jogokgwan about 3 km from the first gate. It then describes the route onward via Jogok Spring and Donghwawon to Joryeonggwan. Decide whether you want the shorter gate walk or the full pass before setting your return time.

Do not combine the pins without a transfer plan

The Uiseong product visit and Mungyeongsaejae are not a walkable local circuit. If you have one day, choose the place that matters most and stay with its own route. To visit both, plan a separate road or public-transport transfer, confirm connections and leave enough daylight for the pass walk.
