The food village and Gangcheonsan sit in different parts of Sunchang, so a two-stop day depends on the transfer, not on how close the pins look on a map. A car gives the most control. Without one, check the county’s current bus information before choosing an order or promising both stops.
Start with the transfer
Gangcheonsan County’s directions page publishes bus information for routes to Sunchang and the park, as well as driving directions from Sunchang Bus Terminal. Use its current timetable and confirm the departure that applies to your date; do not build a return around a generic route estimate. For a taxi, confirm the pickup point and return plan before entering the valley, where it may be harder to arrange a car at short notice.
The village’s visitor listing gives its address as 9 Baegya-gil, Sunchang-eup. Gangcheonsan’s official address is 97 Gangcheonsan-gil, Paldeok-myeon. Enter the exact destination in your map app: “Sunchang” alone can route to the town centre rather than the park entrance.
Choose the order by the fixed closing time
Gangcheonsan admits visitors from 07:00 to 18:00 in April–October and 07:00 to 17:00 in November–March, according to the county’s visitor page; weather and park operations can change those times. Its 4.7 km forest walk and 5.5 km barefoot course are both listed at about two hours. Build the park block around the route you actually intend to walk, then include the outbound and return journey.
The Korea Tourism Organization lists the village’s general hours as 09:00–18:00, free entry and closure on Seollal and Chuseok. Individual makers may have different hours. If you have arranged a visit with a shop or a hands-on session, put that appointment first and let the park become the flexible stop. If no shop has a fixed time, begin with the park while there is more daylight, then visit the village if your transport still works.
A one-day plan with a cut-off
- Before departure: check the current bus or driving route, the park notice, and any village shop you specifically want to visit.
- At the first stop: set a leaving time based on the confirmed return service, not on the desired number of attractions.
- At the cut-off: continue to the second stop only if the transfer and its useful visit still fit. Otherwise stay with the main experience.
For the park, a route through Byeongpung Falls, Gangcheonsa Temple, the suspension bridge and Gugangun Falls is the named 5.5 km barefoot course; there is also a 4.7 km forest walk. Choose based on the group’s footing and comfort, not on the course label. For the village, reserve time for questions and product handling. Sauce jars add weight, so buy after the walk if carrying them would be inconvenient.
When to stay overnight
An overnight stay is useful when the available bus times leave little time at either stop, when you want a long walk without watching the clock, or when you are travelling with someone who needs more rest between transfers. It also gives you a second morning if rain or a temporary closure removes one part of the plan. If you are driving and only want one short walk plus a village visit, a same-day route may be enough.
Choose accommodation around the next leg of your trip and verify its exact location and check-in terms before booking; the village and park are not the same base area.
