The Seoraksan Cable Car does not take advance reservations. Tickets are sold at the counter on the day, and the fare covers a return trip. Check the day’s operating notice before travelling from Sokcho.
Use the posted operating time, not a seasonal guess
Weather and on-site conditions can change the service hours or stop the cable car. The operator posts the day’s schedule on its homepage. If strong wind or severe weather stops operations, unused tickets are fully refunded. The cable car is a poor fixed anchor for a tight evening bus or dinner reservation.
Know the fare and the last ride
The current standard round-trip fare is KRW 16,000 for adults, KRW 12,000 for children aged 37 months through elementary school, and free for children under 36 months. There is no one-way ticket. The ride takes about five minutes each way, and the last departure from the top can leave only about 20 minutes for viewing. If the summit is your main reason for going, check the posted time before buying. Read the cable-car ticket and boarding guide.
Protect the return to Sokcho
From the park entrance, the station is about a five-minute walk. Add the ticket-counter queue, boarding wait and the walk back into the park when you plan the day. There is no need to reserve a ride online; buy only after checking the live notice. If operation is cancelled or the queue no longer fits your schedule, use a lower park walk only if the current national-park notices allow it, then return to Sokcho with the same transport plan.
Sokcho’s express and intercity bus terminals are separate. Check which terminal appears on your onward ticket before choosing a hotel or arranging a late return. Use the day-of ride decision guide.
