Hamdeok works as a swim stop, a Seoubong viewpoint or one point on Jeju Olle Route 19. The swim season is limited; a full Olle walk needs a separate return plan.
Swimming is seasonal
The published 2026 beach season ran from June 24 to September 6, with swimming hours from 10:00 to 19:00; night swimming was not allowed. Those dates have passed, and the notice does not set next year’s dates. Check the 2026 Hamdeok beach notice before planning a swim. The beach is at 525 Johamhaean-ro, Jocheon-eup, Jeju City; its seasonal situation-room number is +82-64-728-3989.
For the 2026 season, a marked dog-swimming area operated in front of the Seoubong entrance. The posted rules limited a dog’s leash or harness to 2 metres and required owners to remove waste. Check whether a designated zone is announced for your travel year.
Seoubong is a separate climb
Seoubong, a volcanic cone beside the beach, gives a view across Hamdeok and toward Hallasan in clear weather. The bridge on the beach’s western side connects the shoreline walk. Treat the hill as an additional outing: check weather and footing, and set a meeting point if some of the group will stay on the sand.
Olle 19 is a long coastal route
Route 19 runs from Jocheon Manse Hill through Hamdeok to Gimnyeong. Hamdeok is listed at the 6-kilometre point; the full route is 19.2 kilometres and takes about 6–8 hours. A beach stop does not mean the whole trail is a short stroll. Choose a section and check the endpoint transport before setting out. See the official Olle route page and its route description.
Use the bus stop for the correct direction
Jeju’s bus information system lists Hamdeok Beach stops and routes 311 and 325 through Hamdeok toward Jeju City. Service intervals and route patterns vary, so check the Hamdeok stop and current timetable for your direction and day. For an Olle section, choose the return stop before you start walking.
