Jeju Geumneung Beach Route Decision: Shallow Water, Low-Tide Sand or a Quieter Hyeopjae Pairing?

Visit Geumneung for shallow-water time, a low-tide walk or a Biyangdo sunset; choose the route and return around the day’s conditions.

Geumneung and Hyeopjae meet along Jeju’s west coast, but one beach visit does not require two stops. Choose around the swim window, tide or sunset you want, then check how you will leave Hallim after it.

Decide what brings you to Geumneung

  • Swimming: use the designated area and check the current beach notice before entering.
  • Low tide: exposed sand and shallow pools change with the tide; check tide conditions and leave the rocks or shoreline before the returning water cuts off your route.
  • Evening: Biyangdo is the westward view, but cloud and haze can hide it. Make the coast walk useful even if the sunset is muted.

Visit Jeju describes clear, shallow water, shell-flecked sand, low-tide pools and views of Biyangdo. Those describe the setting; they do not guarantee the day’s water or weather.

The 2026 swim season has ended

Visit Jeju lists the beach open year-round, with designated swimming in 2026 from June 24 to September 6, 10:00–19:00 and no extended night swimming. That window has passed. For a later trip, check the next official notice rather than carrying these dates forward; the shoreline can still be a walk outside the managed swim period.

Pair the beaches only when the return fits

Geumneung is directly connected to Hyeopjae. Use one as the main stop and treat the other as an optional extension if the group wants a contrast in pace. Adding both also means more wet gear, walking and time needed to get back to your bus, car or pickup point. Check the last connection or parking exit before starting the beach day; no fixed bus timetable is assumed here.

For a wider Hallim day, decide whether Hallim Park or the coast gets the longer block. A park visit followed by a short Geumneung walk can work if the park’s ticket window and your return route leave room; see the Hallim Park route guide before combining them.
