Cheongpung is best planned as a cable-car visit with an optional second stop, not as one guaranteed walking circuit. In autumn, decide the return time first; add a lakeside walk only if daylight and transport leave room.
Use the cable car as the fixed stop
Jecheon tourism describes the Cheongpung cable car as a 2.3 km ride from Multae-ri to Bibongsan, taking about nine minutes each way. That is the ride time, not the whole visit: leave time for boarding, the summit and the queue back down. See the Jecheon tourism cable-car details.
Keep the shore as an optional extension
The lake walk uses a separate stretch of the day. Choose it after checking how you will get back from the Cheongpung area; if the connection or daylight is tight, return after the cable car instead of trying to fit in another viewpoint. Jecheon’s municipal trekking page lists named Cheongpung-area routes, including Jageun Dongsan-gil, Jeongbangsa-gil and Eoreumgol Eco Trail. Check the official Cheongpung trekking routes.
Choose the day by the foliage and forecast
Autumn colour does not follow one fixed date each year. Check local foliage conditions close to travel, then choose whether the extra walk is worth the time. On a crowded weekend, set a latest departure before joining the cable-car queue; drop the shore stop if the wait uses that buffer.
Check operation before setting out
The operator posts current hours and may pause service in severe weather. Confirm the day’s operation and final boarding time on the official cable-car operating page before travelling. Do not build a return connection around an old timetable.
