Yangdong Village is a northern Gyeongju detour for visitors interested in a historic settlement rather than another central Silla monument. The village has about 160 traditional houses, including 54 more than 200 years old, and was inscribed with Hahoe as a UNESCO World Heritage property in 2010. Its slopes and spread-out lanes make a half-day easier than a brief stop.

Check the seasonal schedule and admission
The Korea Tourism Organization lists hours of 09:00–19:00 from April through September and 09:00–18:00 from October through March, with last ticketing one hour before closing. Listed admission is KRW 4,000 for adults, KRW 2,000 for teenagers and KRW 1,500 for children; parking is free. Hours may change to respect residents’ privacy, so check the current visitor listing before setting out.

Walk the lower lanes before climbing
Start on the public lower paths, then continue uphill only if the group has time, daylight and energy. Uneven surfaces and slopes make this a harder visit after rain or for anyone who needs step-free access. The village is a living community: do not enter homes or photograph residents without permission.
Get off at the correct bus stop
Bus 203 serves the northern route, but Gyeongju City distinguishes the “Yangdong Folk Village” stop beside the village from “Yangdong Village Entrance.” Confirm the exact stop and live return service on your travel date; the official city bus-travel guidance links to current route information, and the live bus tracker shows service updates. A taxi or car reduces transfer uncertainty but not the walking inside the village.

With one day focused on central Gyeongju, keep Yangdong for a slower trip. It fits when the settlement itself is the main stop and you can protect time for the return journey.
