Jeongdongsimgok Badabuchae-gil follows Gangneung’s exposed marine terrace between Jeongdongjin and Simgok Port. Decide whether the geology and cliff walk suit the group before planning it as a full-day coast route.
What the route involves
KTO describes a 2.86-kilometre coastal trail from the Jeongdongjin Sun Cruise parking area to Simgok Port, with rock formations and cliffs along the East Sea. It is a linear walk, not a loop. Arrange transport from the far end before entering. Check the official trail listing.
Check access and weather on the day
Listed hours are 09:00–17:30 from April to October and 09:00–16:30 from November to March; last admission is one hour before closing. The operator may close the route for severe weather, military use or facility work. Check the trail operator’s current notice before setting out.
The trail is exposed and includes steps. Choose a shorter visit or postpone if wind, rain, wet surfaces or the group’s walking pace make the return difficult. Do not cross barriers to reach a viewpoint.
For an easier coastal day, keep to a currently open beach or viewpoint and use the Gangneung day plan to fit the return around your train.
