Ojukheon: Hours and Visit Time

You do not need to cover the entire coast in a day. Fix the return journey first, choose one main area and let lunch and the afternoon stay close enough that the day still feels relaxed.

Ojukheon is a good fit when you have about an hour for the historic house, memorial spaces and museum; a coast-only day may not need the detour.

Ojukheon is a historic house and museum complex associated with Yulgok Yi I and his mother, Sin Saimdang. It suits a culture-led Gangneung stop; use the listed final-ticket time to decide whether it fits between the coast and your return.

Allow time to enter the complex

Korea Tourism lists Ojukheon at 24 Yulgok-ro 3139beon-gil, open 09:00–18:00 with last ticketing at 17:00. Individual admission is ₩3,000 for adults, ₩2,000 for teenagers and ₩1,000 for children; children aged six and under and visitors 65 and older are listed as free. The site guide estimates about an hour. Check current visitor details before you go.

Choose the visit depth that fits the day

The grounds include Mongnyongsil, where Yi I was born, Munseongsa shrine, the Yulgok Memorial Hall and municipal museum spaces. An exterior photo is a shorter stop; seeing the buildings and exhibits needs the time and admission for the full visit.

Check the route from your previous stop and the next bus or taxi before travelling. If the main plan is Gyeongpo or the northern coast, compare the detour with the time you have. For a history-focused day, pair Ojukheon with one nearby cultural stop rather than squeezing in both coasts.
