Gyeongpo Beach runs for 1.8 kilometres between the East Sea and Gyeongpoho Lake. The sandy shore, pine grove and lakeside path make it a longer visit than a quick photo stop, even when swimming is not in season.

Combine the shore and lake at your pace

The Korea Tourism Organization lists the beach about 1 kilometre from Gyeongpodae and 6 kilometres from central Gangneung; its current destination page gives the address as 514 Changhae-ro and notes 24-hour public access. The lake promenade is around 4 kilometres, so choose one stretch if you are also visiting the pavilion or beach.

Swimming has separate dates

Public access to the beach does not mean supervised swimming is open. The latest KTO summer guide located for this page lists June 28–August 17 for Gyeongpo in 2025; those dates are historical, not a 2026 or 2027 schedule. Check Gangneung City’s latest beach notice for the next operating period and follow posted lifeguard and water-safety instructions.

For a short stop, stay by the sand and return to your transport. For a half day, add the pine grove or a section of the lake path; avoid trying to complete every nearby attraction in one visit. See the KTO Gyeongpo Beach page, its Gyeongpo Provincial Park listing and the Gangneung City tourism page for current access information.
