Daegwallyeong is a highland area, not one walkable attraction. The Gangneung forest and the Pyeongchang ranches have separate addresses and opening rules; choose one destination before mapping the day.
Gangneung side: a forest visit
Daegwallyeong National Recreational Forest is at 133 Sampoam-gil, Gangneung. Its listed visitor hours are 09:00–18:00. The current KTO listing gives individual admission as KRW 1,000 for adults, KRW 600 for teenagers and KRW 300 for children; parking has a separate fee. Use this location for a forest visit on the Gangneung side, not as a route between Pyeongchang ranches.
Pyeongchang side: choose a ranch
At Daegwallyeong Yangtte Ranch, the circular pasture path is 1.2 km and takes about 40 minutes at an easy pace. It sits at 920 metres; hours vary with weather, and sheep do not roam freely in winter.
Samyang Roundhill lists seasonal hours: May–October, 09:00–18:00 with last admission at 17:00; November–April, 09:00–17:30 with last admission at 16:30. Its weather can change during the day, so confirm operations before departure.
Build the day around one address
Do not plan to walk from the Gangneung forest to a Pyeongchang ranch. Pyeongchang County says Hoenggye Terminal serves Daegwallyeong-myeon; check current bus times on the county’s public transport site. If travelling by car, use the exact destination address for navigation and check the KMA forecast before driving the highland road.
Choose the Gangneung city base for easier rail and meals, or stay closer to the Pyeongchang site when an early opening time is the priority. Confirm the return transfer and the attraction’s day-specific notice before adding a second stop.
