Suseongmot Lake: The Walk, the Distance and the Return

Suseongmot is an open public lake walk in southern Daegu. Set your walking distance first; the visitor centre, boats, rides and fountain have separate operations.

A lake loop can close an evening without requiring an attraction ticket. The full circuit is about 2,020 metres; choose an out-and-back section if dinner, heat or the last train matters more than completing it.

The lake's basic value comes from water, hills and the city meeting in one open space. It does not require a fountain performance to become a worthwhile stop.

The fountain is a seasonal, operational bonus rather than part of the lake's 24-hour access. Recheck the day's schedule before building an evening around it.

How much time should you leave?

The Korea Tourism Organization lists the circuit at 2,020 metres and the lake area as open around the clock. That applies to the public waterfront, not to every boat, ride, restaurant or visitor service. The site was created as an irrigation reservoir in 1925 and is now an urban park. Official visitor details for Suseongmot Lake.

From Suseongmot Station on Metro Line 3, the district’s visitor information centre MOTII is about a ten-minute walk. The lake edge, pier or restaurant you choose can add more distance. MOTII is at 37 Suseongmot-gil; its current hours are posted by Suseong-gu tourism.

Do not build the evening around a show time

The public lake and the media-art fountain are separate. The official pages available for this guide do not provide one current, reliable fountain timetable, so check a same-day district notice before travelling specifically for a performance. A walk and nearby meal remain the more flexible plan.

Choose the lake as one part of Daegu

Come after central sightseeing if you want an evening walk, or shorten the visit to one viewpoint before dinner. On a hot day, avoid a long exposed loop at midday; in rain or strong wind, use an indoor stop instead. The lake can be shortened at any point, so do not force the full circuit when your group is tired.

For another Daegu evening, compare Seomun Market’s separate day and night schedules.
