The cable car covers about 1.2 kilometres and takes roughly seven minutes one way. The ride is short; reaching the station, waiting, walking at the upper area and returning to the city make this a mountain outing rather than a quick downtown add-on.

It fits when the ride and upper view are the main plan
Choose it if your group wants a lift to the upper station and time to look around or walk nearby. The car reduces the first climb, but the summit area is still outdoors and exposed to mountain weather. A cloudy city forecast does not guarantee a clear view above.
Use the full visit cost, not only the ride time
VisitKorea currently lists individual fares as KRW 14,000 adult round trip or KRW 11,000 one way; child fares are KRW 8,000 round trip or KRW 5,500 one way. Senior fares are KRW 12,000 round trip or KRW 8,000 one way. The listing says hours vary by month and fares may change, so check the operator's current timetable and ticket details before leaving.
Keep Donghwasa as a separate stop
The cable-car station and Donghwasa are in the same broad mountain area, but each needs its own access and visiting-time check. Add the temple only after confirming the transfer and the time available; otherwise, let the cable car be the day's single mountain stop.
