Otgol Village: walk Daegu’s historic Choi family settlement

The most reliable plan is not a map covered in pins. Give the morning one theme, the afternoon one nearby direction, and reserve enough room for dinner and the journey back.

Otgol is a historic village of the Gyeongju Choi family at the foot of Palgongsan. Its stone walls and old residences make the lanes themselves the visit; treat the homes as a living neighbourhood and enter interiors only when the site explicitly permits it.

Follow the public lane to the heritage houses

DaeguTour describes the settlement as more than 400 years old and identifies Baekbul Old House, Moshil, Bobondang and the ancestral shrine among its historic buildings. The official listing gives the address as 195-5 Otgol-ro, Dong-gu. Stay on public paths and follow signs or resident instructions around gates and courtyards.

Arrange interpretation before you arrive

The city says a cultural heritage interpreter can introduce the village in English, Chinese or Japanese on weekdays or for a foreign group by reservation. Contact the listed village number, +82-53-983-1040, before building the visit around a guided explanation.

Plan the final approach

DaeguTour lists parking for 20 cars. Capacity does not guarantee a space at your arrival time, so check the approach and any village notices before travelling. Keep extra time for the local road and return connection if Otgol is one stop on a wider Palgongsan day.
