Daegu Arboretum Route Decision: Botanical Checklist or Restored Ecology Day?

The most reliable plan is not a map covered in pins. Give the morning one theme, the afternoon one nearby direction, and reserve enough room for dinner and the journey back.

Daegu Arboretum stands on a former sanitary landfill used from 1986 to 1990. A short visit can focus on that restoration and one nearby garden group rather than trying to cover the whole grounds.

Follow one garden cluster

The city describes more than 1,000 plant species, including giant cacti, medicinal herbs, wildflowers and potted plants, alongside ponds, tree groves, trails and large lawns. Choose a few connected areas on the current map, then turn back before the walk becomes a forced full-site circuit.

Hours and access

Daegu’s English city page lists the arboretum as free, with hours of 09:00–18:00 from March through October and 09:00–17:00 from November through February. It lists a 20-minute walk from Daegok Station on subway line 1 and city buses 604, Dalseo 1, Dalseo 3, Seongseo 1 and Seongseo 1-1. Check current routes and any garden or facility closures before travel.

Choose a pace that fits the group

For children or slower walkers, set one rest point and use a short out-and-back path. The city also offers guided natural interpretation; individual sessions are listed at 10:00, 13:00 and 15:00 on eligible days, while group requests use the city reservation system. Confirm the current schedule before building a visit around a guide.
