Count usable sightseeing days between arrival and departure. Two nights often leave one full day, three nights two and four nights three, but a late arrival or early departure can remove part of a day. Add a night only for a distinct route, event, weather buffer or onward journey.
First put arrival and departure on the calendar
Include luggage, airport or station transfers, check-in and the final trip out. Gimhae Airport buses to Seomyeon/Bujeon and to Haeundae/Gijang use different routes and service times, so check the current airport timetable against the hotel district. A late KTX arrival at Busan Station also needs a final transfer before the evening can count as sightseeing.
Two nights: choose one side of the city
With one full day, keep the plan to either the west-side markets and old port or the east-coast beaches. Crossing between both sides leaves less time at each. Keep the first and last day for the stops that fit around your actual transport schedule.
Three nights: split east and west
Two full days allow one west-side day and one east-side day. Check the route from the hotel to the first stop each morning and the return after dinner. This is often enough for a first visit without moving rooms.
Four nights: give the extra day a job
Use a third full day for a fixed event, a slower coast day, a weather alternative or a separate trip outside Busan. If none is on the itinerary, compare the extra room cost with the transfer time it saves before booking.
Beach dates and event dates need a current check
Busan’s published 2026 Haeundae swimming season ran June 26–September 15, 09:00–18:00; that window has passed. Check the city’s next seasonal notice before planning a swim. The 2026 Busan Indie Connect Festival public days were August 15–16 at BEXCO Exhibition Center 1, Hall 2, 10:00–17:00; those dates have also passed. Its business day on August 14 required a business pass, and the conference required approved advance registration. Check the official event page for a future edition instead of carrying these dates forward.
Keep one night only if it changes the trip
Write the reason next to each night: a separate east- or west-side day, an event, a weather backup or an intercity transfer. If the added night has no distinct purpose, shorten the stay or use it for a slower day in the area you already chose.
